I think it's supposed to be a camera in place of a mirror.

Meh, they won't build that, because they have to expand their crossover lineup, obviously.

I was trying to get on at an Infiniti dealership awhile back. I remember walking around the showroom floor thinking, "This lineup really blows."

Or because I'm running out of appendages to count how many unmanufacturable features I can see in just these two angles.... ;)

I'd rather see them make a bad ass turbo V8 Q50 or Q45

"unmanufacturable features"

First production car to use 3D printed parts from a major automaker? Definitely could happen, but definitely NOT going to happen.

Also, why are there pistons in the lower grill? Adjustable forward aero?

Let me clarify: not just unmanufacturable features, but unable to met US & Euro requirements for road-legal vehicles in so many ways. Also I'm a grinch and just have an irrational hate for the 3D printing circlejerk. Like if some whippersnapper seriously brought that up in a meeting, I'd have to restrain myself from rolling up a newspaper and hitting them on the nose and yelling BAD INTERN BAD.

And unless I'm still drunk and not seeing shit right, those "pistons" don't look like they could move anything without tripping over itself.

I'm not nearly informed enough to give a yay/nay opinion on 3d printing, its cost effectiveness, or its operational effectiveness in car making or any other application. It was just a kneejerk thought on the possibility of producing a complicated design in an efficient manner. I do remember somewhere that a possible future vehicle structure could stem from 3d printed materials imitating human bones, which would be surprisingly strong but not brittle, and most importantly lightweight. Again though, I'm not nearly informed enough of the practicality of such a thing. If it is encouragingly plausible, I would be all for it though.

And I agree, I don't see those pistons actually being able to do anything, I was just wondering what they were supposedly designed to do. What the intention was..
